Julio Bashmore – Batak Groove b/w Around
House is enjoying somewhat of a resurgence right about now and after the initial, exciting, explosion of the UK Funky scene we are now left with swathes of mediocre rebore beats, seemingly endlessly flooding the market, making it increasingly difficult to find good House music.
Finding genuine, groove driven House, harking back to the classic US sound, is next to impossible and when you do its like a swig of icy cold Cider on a blisteringly hot day.
For us at Soul Motive only one name stands out as seemingly being able to constantly deliver that freshness every time. A name supported by Claude von Stroke, Mary Anne Hobbs, Untold, Ramadanman, Martyn and Jesse Rhodes to name a few.
That name is Julio Bashmore.
Julio Bashmore – Batak Groove
Effortlessly bridging the gaps between House, UK Funky and Tribal, Batak Groove has all the elements of a dancefloor classic.
Stripped back rhythms, a hypnotic Indonesian percussive loop and pounding 808 sub kicks combine to deliver a highly addictive rhythm workout that has already recived strong support from both the House and Dubstep scenes including regular inclusion in recent sets by Untold and Claude Von Stroke.
You’ll still be humming the drums next week.
Julio Bashmore – Around
Switching styles “Around” is a shining example of Julio’s unique ability to create effervescent, upbeat, quality beats that encapsulate pure sunshine.
With low end to put a lot of modern Dubstep producers to shame and a rhythm that’ll wind every girl’s waist within earshot, “Around” proves that effortless South American finesse and vibrancy is alive and well in UK music (if not our football).
Release Date: August 2010
All vinyl purchasers from www.soulmotive.co.uk will be provided with the mastered tracks in any digital format their heart desires free of charge.
More praise for Clouds Are Mountains
Apologies if you already know (and by now you REALLY should!) but the debut album from Eleven Tigers just seems to be picking up fans that are in love with the album left, right and centre.
We try not to get over excited by nice things people say but it is so good to hear such positive feedback on an album and artist we have rated so highly for so long. Following on from the Sonic Router review we mentioned previously the Quietus team have now reviewed the Eleven Tigers album.
You can read the full review here – http://thequietus.com/articles/04407-eleven-tigers-clouds-are-mountains-album-review.
“Clouds Are Mountains answers, in full, the question as to what happens after Burial, a question even Burial himself may be having problems answering.”
and of course
“One of the albums of 2010.”
Thank you Quietus, safe to say your review got us gassed differently.
If you havent already you can download or order your CD of this great album here – http://soulmotive.bandcamp.com/album/clouds-are-mountains
